One person killed in CTO after explosion in a high-rise building in Stavropol

Tonight, the tenants of the apartment building in the south-western area of Stavropol were evacuated after an explosion that occurred in one of the apartments.

According to Andrei Djatdoev, the head of the city administration, it was initially assumed that it was an explosion of domestic gas; however, it became clear at the venue that some unknown object was blown up. Local residents reported that one of the tenants, who lives on the tenth floor, blew up, presumably, a grenade, the "Interfax" reports.

Law enforcers held a counterterrorist operation (CTO) and killed a man who had triggered an explosive device. He refused to go out and surrender, the edition reports, citing its informed source.

In total, 130 tenants were evacuated from the building; none of them was hurt, the RIA "Novosti" reports.

The man's apartment was examined by experts: there is no danger for people there, the RBC reports with reference to Andrei Djatdoev.

The killed man is already the sixth casualty of the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus in the Stavropol Territory in 2017.
