Three persons detained during a special operation in Georgia

One of the local residents detained today in the Pankisi Gorge is suspected of rendering assistance to Akhmed Chataev killed in a special operation in Tbilisi.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported on November 21 and 22, in Tbilisi, a special operation was conducted in an apartment building. As a result, three suspected terrorists were killed. One of the killed suspects was identified as Akhmed Chataev, included in the US sanctions list.

Since 2003, Chechen native Akhmed Chataev, aka "One-armed", is wanted by the Russian law enforcement bodies. He is suspected of involvement in organization of the terror act at the Istanbul airport in June 2016.

In the Omalo village, from the house of Bado Chopikashvili, one of the detainees, law enforcers have seized a lot of firearms, and he himself is suspected of aiding and abetting Akhmed Chataev. In the Duisi village, the Machalikashvili brothers were detained after a search, the Georgian "Public Broadcaster" reports.

According to the edition, the special operation was provoked by the events of November 21-22.

Tamar Margoshvili, the head of the Duisi village, has stated on the air of a TV Channel that Temirlan Machalikashvili, one of the detainees, was hospitalized with a wound to his head.

According to the "Rustavi 2" TV Channel, detained Chopanashvili helped Chataev and members of his militant grouping to rent an apartment in Tbilisi.
