NKR blames Azerbaijan for 14,000 bombardments per year

In 2017, Azerbaijani militaries made over 180,000 shots at the positions of the Defence Army of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR), by using missiles, mortars and grenade launchers. This was stated by the KBR’s Ministry of Defence (MoD).

According to the MoD, during this year, the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan violated the ceasefire in the Karabakh conflict zone for about 14,000 times.

According to the NKR, the most strained situation in the conflict zone was in the first half of 2017. Thus, on February 25, the Azerbaijani militaries "made a sabotage attempt.” In the second half of the year, the situation was relatively calm; shelling was conducted mainly from small arms.

On February 25, Azerbaijan accused Armenia of an attempt to penetrate the territory controlled by Azerbaijani militaries aiming to capture some dominant positions. At the same time, Azerbaijan suffered losses, the country's MoD reported. The NKR’s MoD stated that Azerbaijan had tried to ascribe to Armenia its own sabotage, during which it suffered casualties and victims. According to NKR’s data, five Azerbaijani soldiers were killed.

  • Compensation decrease for illegal prosecution violates rights of KBR resident

The court ruling, which awarded Madin Gubzhokov compensation of 30,000 roubles for unlawful criminal prosecution, is incomparable with the moral harm caused by the actions of Azamat Kyaov, a former law enforcer.
