33 apartments damaged by gas explosion in Rostov-on-Don

This morning, in Rostov-on-Don, a burst of gas with subsequent inflammation occurred on the fifth floor of a ten-story house. As a result, one person was killed. Fire-fighters evacuated 50 tenants of the house and extinguished the fire.

Upon the death of a person as a result of the gas burst, investigators instituted a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code (causing death by negligence).

"At present, investigators and forensic experts from the Investigating Department are working at the place. All possible versions of the incident will be considered during the investigation into the criminal case," reports the website for the Investigating Department for the Rostov Region of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).

The deceased person was a man born in 1957. He was a disabled person, reported Oksana Sukhareva, the spokesperson for the regional Prosecutor's Office.

According to her, the explosion broke doors in 33 apartments and damaged a lift shaft and the apartment of the deceased man.
