Dagestani Senator Kerimov back in France

Suleiman Kerimov, Russian Senator (Member of the Federation Council) from Dagestan, has returned to Nice after his trip to Russia, said the city prosecutor Jean-Michel Pretre.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 20, 2017, Kerimov was detained in France and accused of laundering the money received as a result of tax evasion. The Senator was released on bail, but he is forbidden to leave France. On January 19, French law enforcers allowed him to make a three-day trip to his relative in Russia.

According to investigators, Suleiman Kerimov had illegally imported into France from 500 million to 750 million euros. He may face up to five years in prison, and under aggravating circumstances – up to 10 years.

Kerimov returned to France on January 22, the Reuters reports.

The senator said that he intends to prove his innocence.
