Special and counterterrorist operations
On March 1, law-enforcers blocked with "Ural" military vehicles several streets in the village of Dolakovo in the Nazran District of Ingushetia, where documentation and Islamic literature were checked at the Hafiz School (where reciters of the Koran by heart are trained). Pupils' parents and other villagers grouped at the school, but no one was let inside.
On March 4, the Tsumadin District of Dagestan was put under the counter-terrorist operation (CTO) regime: law enforcers are searching for members of the armed underground and their helpers.
Detentions
On February 27, in the Tersk District of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), inspectors of the road-and-patrol service (known as the DPS) stopped a car driven by a 62-year-old resident of the Mineralovodsky District of the Stavropol Territory. The man said that he was driving from the village of Elkhotovo (North Ossetia) to the village of Planovskoe (KBR). During the inspection of the car, inspectors found objects similar to cartridges. Later examination showed that the objects were live ammunition fit for shooting.
On March 2, on suspicion of attacking the police post located at the entrance to the settlement of Kalininsky of the Mozdok District, two residents, aged 23 and 25 years, of the village of Kizlyar of the Mozdok District were detained. During the search of their houses, drugs and weapons were confiscated, which had been used during the above attack.
On March 3, law enforcers detained a resident of Ingushetia, suspected of trading in arms. During the search of his house, a Kalashnikov submachine gun, five grenades, mines and cartridges were found. The detainee may be involved in the sale of pistols, converted for firing live ammunition, grenades and more than 500 cartridges.
