Azerbaijan announces military exercises to involve 25,000 soldiers and officers

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) for Azerbaijan has announced large-scale exercises of the Azerbaijani army to be held on March 12-17.

The military exercises will involve up to 25,000 soldiers and officers, 50 aircrafts, 250 tanks and other armoured vehicles.

The military units will work out actions to repel attacks of a manoeuvre enemy and strike counterblows with a counter-offensive operation.

Besides, the Azerbaijani MoD's website also announces live firing with the use of new weapons systems.

According to the data for April 2017, the personnel of the Azerbaijani army reached 70,000 people, the "Echo of the Caucasus" reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 16-21, 2017, Azerbaijan held large-scale exercises with participation of up to 30,000 soldiers and officers. Azerbaijani experts called the military exercises a demonstration of strength to an enemy, and Armenia associated them with the anniversary of the "April war" of 2016.
