Assets of Dagestani natives in Forbes list several times exceed republic's budget
According to the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot", the assets of natives of Dagestan, included in the list of the richest people in Russia by the Forbes, exceed the budget of the republic by 17 times.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in 2017, according to the Forbes, five natives of Dagestan entered the list of the Russia's richest people.
In the list of the richest people in the world for 2017, published by Forbes on March 6, Leonid Mikhelson, born in Kaspiysk, stays at the 64th position with a fortune of 18 billion US dollars. Suleiman Kerimov, born in Derbent, with a fortune of 6.4 billion US dollars entered the top 300 richest people in the world, and he is in the 20th place in the top 200 richest businessmen in Russia in 2017. Alexander Djaparidze, born in the Dagestani capital, with his fortune of 1.3 billion US dollars stays at the 69th place in the Russian top for 2017. Gavriil Yushvaev, a native of Makhachkala, with his fortune of 1.4 billion US dollars is on the 73rd place among the Russia's richest people, while his fellow countryman Ziyavudin Magomedov with a fortune of 1.2 billion US dollars stays on the 79th place.
The revenues of the budget of Dagestan, approved by the MPs for 2017, amounted to 99.6 billion roubles (1.66 billion US dollars at the rate of the Bank of Russia as of March 15, 2018), while the budget expenses amounted to 95.03 billion roubles. The surplus reached 4.6 billion roubles.
Thus, the assets of Suleiman Kerimov for 2017 were 3.79 times higher than the revenue part of the Dagestan's budget of the same year, while the Leonid Mikhelson's assets were 11.07 times higher than the Dagestani budget. The total assets of all five persons included in the 2017 ratings amounted to 28.6 billion US dollars, which is 17.21 times higher than the budget revenues of Dagestan in 2017.
