In Rostov-on-Don, vandals damage staircase repaired for 2018 FIFA World Cup
The Kazan staircase, the repair of which for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, took from the budget 44 million roubles, is damaged by vandals, who torn away granite shells and lamps, reports the head of the Rostov-on-Don administration.
"Less than two months have passed since the staircase was repaired, and vandals have already torn away all the granite shells and seized some lamps," reported City Mayor Vitaly Kushnaryov as quoted by the "Donnews".
He demanded to install video cameras at all facilities, which repaired by the authorities to the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
The Kazan staircase is one of the main points of interest in Rostov-on-Don. The first mention of it refers to the 18th century.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in late 2010, the FIFA announced the decided to let Russia host the 2018 FIFA World Cup. A large-scale preparation for the championship is underway in Rostov, which to host football matches in the summer.
