Two opponents of LGBT movement detained in Tbilisi

The police have detained Giya Korkotashvili, one of the leaders of the "Georgian March", and Guram Palavandishvili, the chairman of the "Society in Defence of Children's Rights", who came to the action against sex minorities.

Today, LGBT activists planned to hold a rally near the building of the Georgian government, but most of them refused to hold the action, as law enforcers could not guarantee their safety. Only some of them took part in the rally.

On May 1, an action of defenders of the rights of the LGBT community took place in Tbilisi and grew into clashes with opponents of sex minorities, three of whom were detained. Earlier, on March 8, during the transgenders' action held near the building of Georgia's the Ministry of Justice, they were attacked with eggs.

The opponents of the LGBT movement, namely, the "Georgian March" and the "Georgian Idea" Party, decided to hold a counter-action. Today, about 50 people gathered near the building of the Georgian parliament. They intend to go to the government building, where the action of LGBT activists will begin.
