Military observers note professionalism of new chief for Armenian General Staff
Artak Davtyan is appointed the head for the Armenian General Staff, since he never interfered in politics, has an impeccable reputation and extensive work experience. This opinion is expressed by experts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot".
On May 25, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan introduced Major-General Artak Davtyan, the new chief for the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia.
Since 1990, Artak Davtyan took part in the military conflict with Azerbaijan, and after the war he got good military education in Russia, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by military observer Samvel Agababyan.
Artak Davtyan is a not a well-known person in the society. Meanwhile, his colleagues speak of him as of a decent, industrious and principled officer, the military observer reports.
Major-General Artak Davtyan is appointed to a new post for purely professional reasons, believes Samvel Agababyan. Artak Davtyan was never engaged in politics and did not chase high positions, the military observer emphasizes.
Leonid Nersisyan, another military analyst, believes that when appointing the head for the General Staff, Nikol Pashinyan was to find a person not involved in any scandals. According to Leonid Nersisyan, Artak Davtyan meets the above criterion, although the choice of his candidacy became a surprise.
The military observer believes that with the appointment of Artak Davtyan, the course in the development of the Armed Forces of Armenia will be not changed much.
