Maria Lasitskene wins Russian Championship
An athlete from Kabardino-Balkaria has won the gold medal of the Russian Athletics Championship. The silver medal went to Anna Chicherova, a Volgograd high jumper, who served a disqualification for violating anti-doping rules.
Maria Lasitskene (born Kuchina), a two-time world champion, has won the tournament in Kazan. The athlete took the height of 2.00 meters in the first attempt.
Anna Chicherova lost 10 centimetres to Maria Lasitskene and took the second place, reported the "Championship" in the evening on July 19.
According to Yuri Borzakovsky, the head coach of the Russian national team, with her victory, Maria Lasitskene proved that was simply bad luck when on July 13, she took the third place at the last stage of the Diamond League in Morocco. The result interrupted her series of 45 wins in a row at various high jump tournaments, the TASS reports.
