Sources name new post of Ramazan Abdulatipov, ex-president of Dagestan

The former Dagestani head will now represent Russia's interests in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, sources report.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 3, 2017, the Russian president accepted the resignation of the head of Dagestan Ramazan Abdulatipov and appointed Vladimir Vasiliev as the acting head of the republic. On October 19, Abdulatipov was appointed to the position of the presidential representative for humanitarian and economic cooperation with the states of the Caspian region.

The "Komsomolskaya Pravda. Northern Caucasus" reports that Abdulatipov's new appointment will be decided "in the coming weeks."

Let us remind you that since February 6, Abdusamad Gamidov, the former acting head of the Dagestani government, his deputies Shamil Isaev and Rayudin Yusufov, and Shakhabas Shakhov, the former Minister of Education and Sciences, are kept in custody in Moscow. They are accused of an especially large-scale fraud and exceeding their official authorities. On June 28, it became known that the defence had lodged a petition for interrogation of Ramazan Abdulatipov.
