More than 60 soldiers of Nagorno-Karabakh baptized

In Shushi, 61 soldiers of the Defence Army of Nagorno-Karabakh were baptized at the Holy Saviour Cathedral.

On July 30, MPs of the National Assembly became godfathers for the soldiers, who were baptized by religious figures from the Nagorno-Karabakh Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church led by Archbishop Pargev Martirosyan, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

"We did not baptize our son when he was a child, but we thought we would do that when he would return from the army," Goar Budagyan, a mother of soldier Vage Budagyan, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"In our family, perhaps because of Soviet education, there is no essential tradition to baptize children. However, recently, the son called us and said that he wanted to get baptized, and that was his conscious decision. We supported him and came to Shushi," the soldier's mother expressed her opinion.

Soldier Marat Petrosyan told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that he thought about baptism after the April war.

"Then, before battles, during battles and after them, we all prayed to God, regardless of whether we were baptized or not," said Marat Petrosyan.
