Volgograd activists demand to release Navalny

Today, six participants of the "Strategy-31" action held solo pickets demanding not to raise the retirement age, to dismiss the Mayor of Volgograd and to release the oppositional leader Alexei Navalny.

The Volgograd Mayoralty refused to sanction the action in central Volgograd, Vladimir Vasilchenko told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. According to the organizer of the action, he appealed against the refusal at the Tsentralny District Court of Volgograd; and today the court has rejected his appeal.

Vladimir Vasilchenko went to his solo picket with posters for the resignation of the Mayor and against the pension reform. "Putin's pension reform: morgue instead of pensions!" he wrote on one of his posters.

Apart from Vasilchenko, five other activists have picketed in Volgograd today.

Ms Tikhenko held a poster "Trial of Alexei Navalny is execution!" and a portrait of Navalny. "Alexei Navalny was sentenced to 30 days in jail so that to prevent him from taking part in protests against pension reform on September 9," the woman said.
