Head of Ingush district bordering with Chechnya resigns
Issa Khashagulgov has announced his decision to voluntarily leave the post of the head of the Sunzha District. Ismail Nalgiev, the leader of the NGO "Choice of Ingushetia", believes that Issa Khashagulgov protested by his resignation against the plans to hand over a part of the district over to Chechnya.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in late August the NGO "Support of Ingushetia" announced that some construction works began in Ingushetia by workers from Chechnya under the protection of Chechen law enforcers, and about an attempt to set up a road-and-patrol (DPS) post of the Chechen Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) near the Ingush border village of Arshty. NGO activists then complained to the "Caucasian Knot" that Ingush authorities had left these actions of the Chechen side without public reaction.
Today, Issa Khashagulgov, the head of the Sunzha District, has announced his decision on his Facebook page.
On September 26, it is planned to sign an agreement to hand a part of the territory in the Sunzha District of Ingushetia over to Chechnya, and Issa Khashagulgov has thus expressed his protest, reported Ismail Nalgiev, the leader of the NGO "Choice of Ingushetia", on his Facebook page.
"In Magas, an agreement is to be signed between Evkurov and Kadyrov on the transfer of a part of the territory of the Sunzha District of Ingushetia to the Chechen Republic. Issa Khashagulgov, the head of the Sunzha District, resigned in protest," Ismail Nalgiev wrote.
The "Caucasian Knot" does not have any confirmation of the information about the planned signing of the agreement announced by Ismail Nalgiev.
