Shootout at Martan-Chu is tenth armed incident in Chechnya since start of year

In 2018, the shootout in the Urus-Martan District, during which law enforcers killed two people, was preceded by nine armed incidents in other district sof Chechnya.

According to law enforcers, on November 11, near the village of Martan-Chu, two local residents, born in 1994 and 2001, tried to hijack a car, rendered armed resistance and were shot dead.

According to the calculations of the "Caucasian Knot", the shootout has become the tenth armed incident since the start of the year. According to official data, members of the armed underground under 35 years of age took part in at least eight of them. This has confirmed the conclusion of the "Caucasian Knot" that the armed underground is becoming younger.

The previous incident happened on September 16, when fighters of the "Rosgvardia" (Russian National Guard) shot three alleged militants in the Achkhoi-Martan District of Chechnya located near the border with Ingushetia.
