Social networks users treat staging Bulgakov in Dagestan as "diabolic holiday"

The literary event based on the novel "Master and Margarita" by Mikhail Bulgakov at the Buynaksk Medical College was called a "satanic holiday" by social media users.

The theatrical performance based on the episode "The Great Ball at Satan's" caused criticism on the Instagram.

"Our republic is by 98% Muslim. No one will probably argue that there are topics that should not be touched," wrote the user ___kleopatra111___. "The theme of worshiping someone other than the Most High (Allah) is forbidden even in a joke," the user has added.

However, many users spoke in defence of college students.

"The author wants to say that these young people are Satanists. Here is a medieval witch hunt in a new format," says user 9999in1.

Let us remind you that in Dagestan, events that, in the opinion of the advocates of morality, were contrary to traditional culture were repeatedly banned. This November, an anime festival was disrupted in Makhachkala. In 2016, the festival of colours in honour of the Hindu Holi holiday and the concert of Gothic music performers "Flos Florum" from Yekaterinburg were cancelled.
