Amulsar mine developer threatens Armenian authorities with international arbitration
Lydian mining company warned the Armenian government about plans to appeal to an international arbitration court in connection with the illegal blockade of roads leading to the Amulsar gold mine.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in June 2018, activists standing against the operation of the Amulsar mine, developed by Lydian Armenia Company, blocked the roads to the mine. Residents of the Jermuk and Gndevaz communities claim that gold mining at the deposit will lead to an ecological disaster.
Lydian UK Corporation Limited (Lydian UK) and Lydian Canada Ventures Corporation (Lydian Canada), subsidiaries of Lydian International Limited (Lydian), officially notified the Armenian government about disputes in the framework of the Armenian-British and Armenian-Canadian investment promotion agreements in connection with the blockade of roads leading to the Amulsar gold deposit, announced the statement posted on the company's website on March 11.
