Archival video with Akhmat Kadyrov confirms that Tumso was right

By publicizing the archival video featuring Akhmat Kadyrov, Chechen authorities wanted to show that he was independent; however, the video itself has confirmed the words of the blogger, Tumso Abdurakhmanov, about the appeals of the first Chechen president to jihad, Ruslan Kutaev, a public figure, has stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the online dispute of Djambulat Umarov, the Chechen Minister for National Policy, with Tumso Abdurakhmanov about Akhmat Kadyrov's calls for jihad forced Ramzan Kadyrov to explain and interpret his father's words. Then Djambulat Umarov refused to continue the discussion with Tumso Abdurakhmanov, and Magomed Daudov, the speaker of the Chechen parliament, entered into a debate with the blogger. The online dispute between Magomed Daudov, the speaker of the Chechen parliament, and Tumso Abdurakhmanov led to the fact that on March 9, Magomed Daudov announced blood feud against the blogger because of his statements about Akhmat Kadyrov.

On March 11, 2019, at the background of the debates, the Chechen State TV and Radio Company (ChGTRK) posted a video, taken in 1998, in which Akhmat Kadyrov criticized Aslan Maskhadov's opponents.

The video about the Sharia trial of Maskhadov is a continuation of the dispute of Ramzan Kadyrov's retinue with Tumso Abdurakhmanov, said Ruslan Kutaev, who also heads the International Committee on Problems of Northern Caucasus.

Supporters of Akhmat Kadyrov wanted to show that he was independent, had his own viewpoint, not like the blogger has described him; however, the video has partially confirmed Tumso's words, for example, that Akhmat Kadyrov called for jihad, Mr Kutaev has noted.

In his opinion, the video bears no reputational losses for the Kadyrovs. "In principle, everything that could be said about Ramzan and his father has already been said. All the records have already been made public; and it's not possible to put forward more serious charges than those already presented," he believes.

Ruslan Kutaev is sure that Daudov and Umarov, who started a dispute with Tumso, have lost it. "In their verbal duel, Abdurakhmanov was the winner, because he used the correct information and, as many people believe, stood for the truth. Hence, we see these latest Daudov's statements with threats to Tumso and the publication of the video with Akhmat Kadyrov. This is caused by the position of Ramzan Kadyrov, who is unhappy that his father's name being used in the negative context," Mr Kutaev has concluded.
