Politicians of Nagorno-Karabakh positively assess meeting of Pashinyan and Aliev
The authorities and the opposition of Nagorno-Karabakh positively assessed the meeting of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliev in Vienna. Delegates of the "My Step" faction of the National Assembly of Armenia declared the protection of the unrecognized republic's interests.
On March 29, Ilham Aliev and Nikol Pashinyan met in Vienna under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group co-Chairs. Nikol Pashinyan proposed to continue discussing further measures to stabilize the situation on the contact line and try to establish a peaceful life in the frontline villages. The Azerbaijani political analysts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" were skeptical about the outcome of the meeting, while the Armenian political analysts treated the meeting with cautious optimism.
The "Free Homeland", the largest party in Nagorno-Karabakh, has noted that the political dialogue is necessary for a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
"Our army should always be ready for military operations, but at the same time, Armenia should not refuse negotiations," said David Melkumyan, the deputy chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the National Assembly of Nagorno-Karabakh.
Lilit Makunts, the head of the "My Step" faction, has declared that the security of Nagorno-Karabakh is closely related to the security of Armenia.
Let us remind you that after coming to power, Nikol Pashinyan spoke for returning Nagorno-Karabakh to the negotiating table.
