Picketer in support of Gadjiev detained in Makhachkala

Law enforcers have brought Shamil Abashilov, a former editor-in-chief of the "Youth of Dagestan" newspaper, to a police station, after he went out to the Prosecutor's Office in Makhachkala to hold a solo picket in support of Abdulmumin Gadjiev.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 14, 2019, Abdulmumin Gadjiev, a journalist of the "Chernovik" (Draft) weekly, was detained within the case of financing terrorism. Gadjiev stated falsification of the case. Dagestani journalists hold actions demanding the release their colleague.

Today, a solo picket in support of Abdulmumin Gadjiev was held in front of the Dagestani Prosecutor's Office. The detention of Shamil Abashilov was reported by the "Chernovik" Telegram channel.

"Policemen didn't let Shamil Abashilov, a former editor-in-chief of the 'Youth of Dagestan' newspaper, to picket near the Prosecutor's Office. He was put into a car and is transported to the Sovietsky ROVD (District Interior Division) of Makhachkala," says the message of the Telegram-channel.
