Organizers of LGBT march in Tbilisi refuse to hold it amid threats

LGBT activists have abandoned their idea to hold the "March of Dignity" in Tbilisi because of the threats received from activist groups that promised to disrupt the event.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 7, activists drew up an action plan to prevent the LGBT action.

The LGBT organization "Tbilisi Pride" announced the holding of the "March of Dignity" in the capital of Georgia on July 8, demanding from law enforcers to ensure the marchers' safety.

Today, dozens of radically tuned men came to the building of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) aiming to prevent an "immoral" event, the "Interfax" reports.

Also, the Patriarchate of Georgia has stated that it is "unacceptable to promote the Sodom sin," the portal "News Georgia" has written. Clergymen have accused the march organizers of an "attempt to generate civil tensions."

The Patriarchate treats the "Tbilisi Pride" as "one of the stages of the strategy aimed at ensuring that same-sex 'marriages' and the right to adopt a child are fixed at the legal level." The Georgian Church has imposed the responsibility for possible violence during the "March of Dignity" on the organizers thereof and their supporters.
