Three Ingush activists denied appeal
The Supreme Court (SC) of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) has refused to satisfy the complaints of the Ingush activists, Khasan Katsiev, Akhmed Nalgiev and Rashid Aushev, about the extension of their arrest until September 25, 2019.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that all the three activists were detained on April 23, 2019. They are suspected of clashes with law enforcers at a rally in Magas.
On March 26, protesters in Magas refused to finish their rally, after which there were clashes between protesters and law enforcers. According to investigators, 10 law enforcers received traumas.
Bairamuk Bakuev, an advocate, has recalled that in April Katsiev had already been detained because of his statements against the border agreement with Chechnya; then, the court fined him.
“There is not a single convincing document confirming Khasan Katsiev's participation in the conflict. When watching the video materials, we failed to notice Katsiev in a crowd of aggressively tuned persons," the advocate Bakuev has stated.
He asked the court to take into account that his client's son had recently undergone a surgery; he is to undergo another one; and his wife's vision has deteriorated amid nervous condition.
Mukhtar Mishaev, a Nalgiev's advocate, has also noted that the investigator failed to present at least one proof of his client's guilt.
Aset Katsiyeva, Khasan's mother, said that her son's arrest had a serious impact on the family.
