Residents of Georgia come out to action in support of "Rustavi-2"
In case of a change in the owner of the "Rustavi-2" TV Company, residents of Georgia are at risk of losing access to objective information on the situation in the country, participants of the action held at the building of the TV Company have voiced out their concerns today.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) has found the decision of the Supreme Court (SC) of Georgia to transfer the assets of the "Rustavi-2" TV Company to its former owner Kibar Khalvashi to be legitimate.
Today, prior to the announcement of the ECtHR's decision, several hundred people gathered before the building of the "Rustavi-2" to protest against the transfer of the TV Company to Kibar Khalvashi. Some of them explained that they had come to the action after the call of the "Rustavi-2" to support the TV company in case of an attempt to capture it by force.
"Today, it was important for me to come because the "Rustavi-2" is a true and objective television. If it ceases to exist, the political situation in the country will change; people will have no [objective] information," a pensioner, a former engineer from Tbilisi explained to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
