Ramzan Kadyrov instructs his relative to enlarge city of Argun

On September 4, members of the City Council of Argun approved Khas-Magomed Kadyrov as the City Mayor. Among the tasks assigned to his relative, Ramzan Kadyrov mentioned mergence of the nearest villages to Argun, development of the social sphere, and attraction of investments.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 26, Khas-Magomed Kadyrov, a 28-year-old relative of the leader of Chechnya, was appointed the Mayor of Argun. Since November 2017, he headed the Department for Grozny of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA). Argun, along with Grozny, is one of the key points of the republic, so the leader of Chechnya pays special attention to the city, believe the analysts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot".

On his page on the social network "VKontakte", Ramzan Kadyrov pointed to the achievements of the new Mayor of Argun.

"In just one month after his appointment, the appearance of Argun began to change for the better, and the city looks cleaner," the leader of Chechnya wrote.

In August, Khas-Magomed Kadyrov organized a large-scale subbotnik (voluntary cleaning work on Saturday), and participation in it was mandatory, reported residents of the city. They associated the subbotnik with the desire of the new Mayor to "curry favour" with Ramzan Kadyrov.

The meeting of the City Council of Argun was a "pure formality," said Aslan, a member of an NGO. "There was not a single case that a candidate proposed by Ramzan Kadyrov for a particular position was rejected," the NGO activist explained.

The relationship with Ramzan Kadyrov does not put an end to the efficiency of the official, and in the Chechen Republic, the key positions are held not by relatives of the leader of the republic, adds Akhmet Yarlykapov, a researcher engaged in oriental studies.

The appointment of relatives to key positions is a "standard Caucasian practice," notes political analyst Evgeny Minchenko.
