Azerbaijani journalist Ragimov sent to colony

The verdict to Ikram Ragimov, the editor-in-chief of the "Realliq.info" website, who went on a hunger strike demanding his acquittal, came into force – on September 26, the journalist was convoyed from prison to the colony.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 12, 2019, a court in Baku found Ikram Ragimov, the editor-in-chief of the "Realliq.info" website, guilty of extortion and sentenced him to 5.5 years in prison. On August 7, Ragimov went on a hunger strike, demanding an objective consideration of his appeal. On September 4, his cousin said that on the 29th day of hunger strike Ragimov's kidneys started failing. However, the Penitentiary Service denied any threat to his life. On September 5, Ragimov stopped his hunger strike. On September 18, the Baku Court of Appeal (BCA) reduced the sentence his prison term down to three years. On the same day, Ragimov resumed his hunger strike, demanding his complete acquittal.

On September 26, the convicted Ikram Ragimov, was transferred from the Baku SIZO (pre-trial prison) to Colony No. 6. In was done because of the entry into force of his verdict, the "Turan" News Agency reported on the same day.

Ikram Ragimov's relatives said that they had no information about his health condition and whether he was continuing his hunger strike. "Until yesterday, Ikram had continued it. We are worried about his health," the edition named "Contact.az" quoted one of Ragimov's family member saying on September 26.
