Police work check begins after Gagieva's resonance murder

Investigators have promised to check the information that the death of Regina Gagieva, a resident of Vladikavkaz, was caused by law enforcers' inaction.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the 22-year-old resident of Vladikavkaz, Regina Gagieva, who received more than 10 stab wounds, spent several days in a coma and died in the intensive care unit at night on September 25. According to investigators, her ex-husband inflicted mortal stab wounds on her out of jealousy. According to Regina's sister, in marriage, the husband had often beaten Regina Gagieva up, but law enforcers gave no reaction to her complaints.

Now, a pre-investigation check has been launched, which should establish the truthfulness of media reports about the law enforcers' indirect guilt in the death of Regina Gagieva. "Media reported that the suspect of stabbing his ex-wife <...> had previously been involved in other crimes, but had never been punished. According to the victim's sister, he had threatened her with murder; and they’ve said they turned to the police on the issue, but no measures had been taken; and at the time the crime was committed, the suspect had had to be under house arrest," the Investigating Department (ID) for North Ossetia of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) reported on its website on September 26.

Investigators will evaluate the actions of those who should have kept the suspect under house arrest; those, who received Gagieva's complaints, and had checked information about other suspect's offences, the report says.
