Tofig Yagublu complains of threats and torture

Tofig Yagublu, an activist of the "Musavat" Party, is back at large after serving his administrative arrest. He told about beatings by law enforcers and threats with demands to stop his oppositional activities.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the evening on October 19, after an oppositional rally in Baku, Tofig Yagublu was arrested for 30 days.

On November 18, after his release, Tofig Yagublu told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by telephone that after his detention, law enforcers used physical violence against him.

"They handcuffed my hands behind my back; threw me face down and began kicking me anywhere – in the head, back, legs and ribs. Then they began to twist my arms. All this tortures lasted for about an hour," Mr Yagublu has stated.

According to his story, already during his stay in the Binagadi detention centre, he was visited twice by a man who introduced himself as an employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA). He demanded from Yagublu to stop his political activities, threatening to kill members of his family.
