Tbilisi historians complain about authorities' neglect of memory of battles with Soviet Army

They believe that Georgia pays too little attention to the battles of Georgian troops against Soviet forces in February 1921.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported, since 2010, February 25 has been marked in Georgia as the Day of Soviet occupation.

Political analysts noted that in the context of Russian-Georgian relations, it can be said that Georgia's independence remains in jeopardy.

Giorgi Gakhariya, the Georgian Prime Minister, has stated that the struggle for the country's independence was unstoppable until 1991, the "Georgia-Online" reports.

According to Lasha Bakradze, the head of the Museum of Georgian Literature, the country pays too little attention to studying the 1921 war.

Irakli Khvadagiani, a historian and an activist of the NGO named "Sovlab", agrees with him. He also treats the idea of the Georgia's voluntary accession to the USSR as incorrect.

Meanwhile, he has noted that the exact number of victims of that war has not yet been established.

The Russian historians, interviewed earlier, treat the Soviet period as important for Georgia.
