Baku residents concerned over threat of coronavirus spread

The Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) deployed mobile tent hospitals near checkpoints on the border with Iran because of the threat of the spread of the coronavirus decease. In Azerbaijan, no cases of the coronavirus have been officially confirmed, but some of Baku residents interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" expressed their concern over the threat of the coronavirus decease entering the country, and the booming demand for protective equipment provoked a shortage of medical masks.

At present, in Baku, 186 people have been hospitalized with a suspicion of coronavirus infection.

Adil Geibulla, a private clinic doctor, considers actions of state bodies inadequate to the risks of the spread of the coronavirus decease. According to the doctor, one of the important conditions is the closure of the country's borders.

Adil Geibulla questioned the Azerbaijan's health potential for diagnosing the coronavirus decease. The doctor notes that the vast majority of the hospitalized persons were placed to hospitals in the regions bordering Iran.

According to the Professor, there are high risks of the coronavirus decease confirmation in Azerbaijan.

Residents of Baku expressed different opinions while assessing the risks and the threat of the spread of the coronavirus decease.

Azer Guseinov, an employee of a law company, believes that the information about the coronavirus decease dramatically affected public opinion.

Djamal Askerov, an IT specialist, believes there is nothing to worry about.
