Gasanguseinov and Gadjiev's supporters unite in protest in Makhachkala

Friends and colleagues of Abdulmumin Gadjiev and Murtazali Gasanguseinov have held a series of solo pickets in Makhachkala, demanding to release the arrested journalist and conduct an inquiry into the killing of shepherd brothers by law enforcers. Eleven persons took part in the pickets.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Murtazali Gasanguseinov has been holding daily pickets demanding to dismiss and bring to criminal liability the law enforcer, who, at the time of the murder of the shepherds-brothers, Murtazali's sons, held the position of the head of the Shamil ROVD (District Interior Division), and then reported on the killing of two militants. Colleagues and friends of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, an editor of the religion department of the Dagestani website "Chernovik"In Makhachkala, who was arrested in the case on financing terrorism, have been holding pickets every week with the demand to stop the prosecution of Abdulmumin Gadjiev. The recent such protest action took place on March 9.

The solo pickets of Murtazali Gasanguseinov and colleagues and friends of Abdulmumin Gadjiev were held in the central square of Makhachkala near the building of the republic's government. Professionals from local and federal media, as well as residents of Makhachkala, who came to support the solo picketers, were present at the venue, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondents, who also attended the pickets, have reported.

The total number of supporters was 15 people; and 11 of them were direct solo picketers.

The joint pickets lasted for exactly an hour. Several policemen supervised the action from aside. Toward the end of the action, two policemen took explanatory notes from Gasanguseinov and Magomed Magomedov, the deputy editor-in-chief of the "Chernovik" (Draft) weekly, about their reasons for going out into the square.
