Resident of Chechnya publicly apologizes for mocking the help to the poor

A resident of the Achkhoi-Martan District has issued a video message with his apology for the video, in which he mockingly commented on the food package received from the authorities. The man has apologized involuntarily, his fellow countrymen have suggested.

The author of the video has shown loaves of bread and five green tomatoes lying on the table. "We received help from the village council – five tomatoes and two loaves of bread for six persons," the man said.

The man was forced to post the apologizing video, Adlan, an NGO activist, has suggested. "The day before, the state TV broadcasted, with great fanfare, how the Kadyrov Foundation cared for the poor and allocated three kilograms of tomatoes and three loaves of bread to each family ... Apparently, only a part of the help came to this family," Adlan said.

"If it really was a joke, then why should he ask people for forgiveness?" Rosa, an employee of a Chechen NGO, has noted.
