Military experts argue about reasons for army manoeuvres in Chechnya
In Chechnya, military manoeuvres in the vicinity of villages in the Nadterechny District are a stage of ordinary military exercises, not related to the socio-political situation in Northern Caucasus, military observers Alexander Golts and Pavel Felgenhauer believe. Political analyst Alexander Perendjiev does not rule out that the Russian federal troops have demonstrated their presence amid a mass protest in North Ossetia.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 20, local residents reported about a convoy of trucks with soldiers in the Nadterechny District of Chechnya. The soldiers set up tent camps.
Magomed Daudov, the speaker of the Chechen parliament, announced that the federal troops stopped in the Nadterechny District for redeployment.
Military exercises can be conducted in the vicinity of villages and towns, military observer Pavel Felgenhauer confirms. Meanwhile, the expert believes that the manoeuvres of the armed forces are not connected with the transfer of military units.
The federal troops may be deployed near a village to provide additional protection for the population, explains Alexander Perendjiev, a member of the Expert Council of Russian Officers.
The expert did not rule out the connection between the activities of the federal troops and the protest situation in North Ossetia, where a spontaneous protest action took place on April 20.
