Restrictions on crossing Azerbaijani border extended until late May

In Azerbaijan, the authorities decided to uphold restrictions on crossing the country's state borders until May 31 because of the threat of the coronavirus infection spread. Exceptions are made for cargo and freight transportation and charter flights, the Azerbaijani operational headquarters announces.

"The countries of the world continue to take measures to combat the coronavirus infection (COVID-19). As part of the measures taken, most states have postponed international flights in accordance with the decision to close their borders," states the press release of the Azerbaijani operational headquarters.

To prevent the spread of the coronavirus infection in the country, the restriction on exit and entry into the territory of Azerbaijan by land and air was extended until May 31. An exception is made only for cargo and freight transportation and charter flights, announces the Azerbaijani operational headquarters in its release as translated from the Azerbaijani language by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Besides, as the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been explained at the operational headquarters, in special cases, ground border crossings can be opened for Azerbaijani citizens returning to their homeland and foreigners leaving the country, by mutual agreement of appropriate bodies of neighbouring states. Meanwhile, people who return to Azerbaijan "are to be compulsorily placed under the quarantine for a period of 14 to 21 days," the spokesperson for the Azerbaijani operational headquarters emphasized.
