Grozny law enforcers continue checks amid quarantine weakening

Law enforcers are checking permits in stores and at bus stops, copy violators' personal data and threaten to fine them, Grozny residents inform.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 26, Magomed Daudov, the Speaker of the Chechen Parliament, said that the epidemiological situation was gradually normalizing, but the self-isolation regime must be continued. Instagram users and residents of Chechnya were outraged by the uncertainty of exiting the quarantine and complained about their material difficulties arising from the quarantine.

Local residents have told that on May 28, law enforcers continued checking the permits. The conducted survey is not representative and reflects personal opinions and experiences of those who spoke with correspondents.

"Yesterday (on May 27) we went to the wholesale warehouse for groceries; policemen came there and began checking people's permits. Two guys, who had no permits, were detained," Raisa, a resident of Grozny, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"There was talk that after May 27, the quarantine would be weakened, [...] but in fact exactly the opposite happened. We have a new tightening: total checks of permits, both in young and old people. They detain people and take them to police stations," Dokka, a local resident, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
