Media report billions worth donations to Kadyrov Foundation

In 2019, the Chechen Akhmat Kadyrov Foundation raised a record amount of 6 billion roubles as donations – 2.7 times more than in 2018, the "MBKh Media" has reported.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that budget-funded employees and entrepreneurs in Chechnya are making mandatory donations to the above Foundation.

In December 2019, within just six days, Chechen officials reported about at least 12 projects and actions, for which the money was allocated by the Kadyrov Foundation. They were communal and charity projects, help to people and children with disabilities. However, lawyers have pointed out that the law demands special documentation for the transfer of funds from the Kadyrov Foundation to state agencies, as this questions the transparency of the Chechen budget.

The activeness of the Foundation has also increased amid the coronavirus pandemic. In April, the "Grozny" TV Channel showed four reports in two days with gratitude from residents of Chechnya and other regions. Some social network users treated the Foundation's charity actions as ostentatious.
