Dagestani resident convicted for financing IS
The Southern District Military Court has sentenced Ali Aliomarov, a resident of Dagestan, to three years in prison within a case of promoting terrorist activities.
In June 2019, Aliomarov's relatives reported his disappearance. Then, investigators reported the detention in Moscow of Dagestani natives suspected of financing Syrian militants in 2014-2017.
From September 2016 to July 2017, Aliomarov handed over 318,000 roubles to a member of the "Islamic State" (IS or ISIL), a terrorist organization banned in Russia by the court. He has fully admitted his guilt.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in June 2019, the journalist, Abdulmumin Gadjiev, was arrested in Makhachkala within the case of financing terrorism. He denies his guilt. According to the prosecution, Gadjiev transferred money to the accounts of the preacher Israil Akhmednabiev (Abu Umar Sasitlinsky), whom investigators treat as the organizer of the scheme of financing terrorism through charitable foundations under the pretext of building mosques and helping poor Muslims.
