Dijon Prosecutor presents details of riots involving natives from Chechnya

The number of victims of clashes that broke out in Dijon of members of Chechen Diaspora and local residents has grown up to 20 persons; four participants have been charged, the Dijon City Prosecutor has stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 14, in the French city of Dijon, a conflict occurred of members of the Chechen Diaspora with local residents of Arab origin. Policemen detained six members of the Chechen community.

The conflict was triggered by a beating on June 10 of a 16-year-old teenager from the Chechen community by drug dealers. After that, calls for revenge appeared on social networks.

Eric Mate, the Dijon Prosecutor, said that 20 people were injured in the conflict; several of them were seriously injured.

At night on June 13, several masked men, armed with iron rods, clubs and baseball bats, entered the "Black Pearl" Night Club and beat up four people there. That same night, a group of people arrived in Grezil in Dijon. They attacked individual residents of Arab origin and injured nine people, the Prosecutor has noted.

At night on June 14, about 50 people attacked people of Arab descent in Dijon; several people opened fire from a pistol and a long-barrelled rifle from inside a car. Then they fled from the scene.

At night on June 15, about 170 people gathered in the car park located next to Dijon. Then, they went to the Le Grezil district armed with iron rods and after putting masks on their faces; they began attacking residents of Arab origin.

Four detainees have been charged; three of them are immigrants from Russia; the fourth detainee is a French citizen, the TASS writes with reference to Prosecutor Mate.
