Makhachkala residents enticed to vote with music and free protective means

In Makhachkala, voters for constitutional amendments liked patriotic music and the fact that disposable masks, gloves and pens were handed out at the polling stations. Well before the end of the vote, the turnout in Dagestan reached 82%.

Muminat Murtazaeva, the chair of Precinct Election Commission (PEC) No. 1102, has reported that philharmonic artists performed near the station. Patriotic music came from the speakers at the station. "People are already missing this feeling of celebration and joy," she said.

By 8:37 p.m. Moscow time on July 1, the website "Vote Violations Map" created by the "Golos" (Vote) movement, eight reports about violations in Dagestan had appeared.

One of voters reported that the principal of the school where she works encouraged her subordinates to visit polling stations.

There is no need to amend the Constitution, Ismail, a retired military serviceman, believes.

Kaisar Omarova, another voter and an Honoured Lawyer of Dagestan, has supported the constitutional amendments. "I am very grateful to our authorities, the president of the country ... He loves peace on earth, cares about the Russians' future," she said.

For Robert Kurbanov, it turned out to be important that the Mufti of Dagestan called for participation in the vote. Among the amendments, he highlighted the establishment of the priority of national legislation over the international one, support for the traditional family and the prohibition for officials to have assets abroad.
