Azerbaijan reports about machine gun and sniper attacks in conflict zone
Over 24 hours, the positions of the Azerbaijani troops were 35 times shelled on the border with Armenia and in the Karabakh conflict zone, including from large-calibre machine guns and sniper rifles, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Azerbaijan reported.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 2, the Azerbaijani MoD reported about 41 attacks on its positions from Armenia.
"Units of the Armenian armed forces used large-calibre machine guns and sniper rifles and 35 times violated the ceasefire regime in various directions of the front over 24 hours," the Azerbaijani MoD reports on its website today. The positions of the Azerbaijani troops came under fire in the villages of Alibeili, Agdam, Kokhanebi, and Mundjuglu in the Tovuz District, in the village of Zamanly and at unnamed heights in the Gadabay District.
The positions of the Azerbaijani troops were also shelled from the territories located near the occupied villages.
As at 8:30 a.m. Moscow time on today, the Ministries of Defence of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh have not yet posted on their official websites any comments on the statement released by the Azerbaijani MoD.
On July 12, the conflict intensified on the border in the Tovuz District of Azerbaijan and the Tavush Region of Armenia. According to the official information, in the period from July 12 to 27, six soldiers were killed from the Armenian side, while the Azerbaijani authorities reported 13 killed people. No new casualties have been reported since July 27.
