In Beslan, mourning ceremony held without restrictive measures

In Beslan, hundreds of people gathered in the yard of the former school No. 1 to honour the memory of the victims killed in the terror act in 2004. At the mourning event, people did not comply with the social distancing measure, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reported.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that more than 1000 people took part in the mourning events in Beslan in the first hours after they had begun. The number of participants in the traditional watch of memory was not limited, despite the threat of the coronavirus infection.

Today, people began to gather in the school yard starting from 8:00 a.m. The weather was hot in Beslan, and doctors were on duty outside the school building from the very morning. Most of the local residents came to the school building at about 12:00 a.m. They brought not only flowers, but also water, as a sign that the terrorist did not let the hostages drink while the school was captured. Despite the large gathering of people at the memory action, no one complied with the measure of social distancing and only few of the people wore medical masks, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reported.

Every year, fewer and fewer local residents gather to honour the memory of the victims killed in the terror act, but like earlier, they are people of all ages, the participants of the memorial action inform the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. At 1:02 p.m., when the first explosion occurred at the school 16 years ago, Beslan schoolchildren released white balloons into the sky. After that, the participants of the memory action went to the memorial cemetery "City of Angels".
