"1Adat" discloses scale of kidnappings in Chechnya

Since the early September, 53 people have been kidnapped in Chechnya, of whom at least one was killed and 20 others were released, reported the movement "1Adat", for cooperation with which Salman Tepsurkaev was humiliated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the movement "1Adat" continued its activities after the kidnapping of Salman Tepsurkaev, who for some time worked as a moderator of a chat on the "1Adat" Telegram channel. The number of the Telegram channel's followers has tripled due to the public outcry.

A public outcry was provoked by a video in which a naked man, who identified himself as Salman Tepsurkaev, was sitting on a bottle. The young man explained that he was doing that as punishment for his cooperation with the opposition "1Adat" Telegram channel. Authors of the Telegram channel stated that the moderator of their chat was publicly humiliated by law enforcers.

According to the movement "1Adat", 53 people have been kidnapped in Chechnya since the early September. "20 people were released, while at least one person was killed. This is all from the beginning of the month until September 25. Well, our moderator Salman Tepsurkaev was kidnapped," the spokesman for the "1Adat" Telegram channel told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent on September 27.

He provided the "Caucasian Knot" with a list with 18 names of the kidnapped persons, including a married couple and at least one teenager, and assured that administrators of the "1Adat" Telegram channel paid considerable attention to verifying the accuracy of the information before making it public.

"For example, all day long we are engaged in checking information coming from our various sources about a murder of a person by Kadyrov's men. At present, we cannot disclose this information. But today (on September 27), the Kadyrov's men killed a person and gave his body out to his relatives. Well, it happened that we got misinformation, but we always check it with our sources," the spokesman for the "1Adat" Telegram channel said.
