Nagorno-Karabakh: a maternity hospital in Stepanakert shelled
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Nagorno-Karabakh has made public photographs of a partially destroyed building of a maternity hospital in Stepanakert. Azerbaijan has denied any involvement in shelling attacks.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Stepanakert, the capital of Nagorno-Karabakh, was repeatedly subjected to shelling attacks and air raids. Local residents moved to bomb shelters.
Today, the MFA of Nagorno-Karabakh has posted nine photographs of the partially destroyed building. "The armed forces of Azerbaijan shelled the maternity hospital in Stepanakert," states the MFA's post.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Azerbaijan has denied any involvement in the shelling attacks on Stepanakert (the Azerbaijani name is Khankendi, – note of the "Caucasian Knot"). "The report <...> about the alleged shelling attack on the maternity hospital in Khankendi by the Azerbaijani army is a deliberately disseminated disinformation. With such information, the enemy is trying to divert attention from its own war crime committed some time ago in Barda, which entailed numerous human casualties," the MoD of Azerbaijan reports on its official website.
Today, the Azerbaijani MoD has reported that the Armenian troops used "Smerch" heavy multiple missile launchers to shell the frontline city of Barda. 20 civilians were killed and up to 60 others were injured, the General Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan reported.
