Oppositionists detained in Georgia released

A court in Tbilisi has ruled to release all the activists detained at protest actions against the results of parliamentary elections.

On November 5, policemen detained Zviad Kuprava, an activist of the United National Movement (UNM) Party, and three other activists. Kuprava was released after the opposition had demanded it.

The activists have been released temporarily, pending a court hearing scheduled for today. They face at least fines for disobeying the police, the "Imedi" TV Channel has reported.

Let us remind you that on October 31, parliamentary elections were held in Georgia; the opposition refused to recognize the results thereof. On November 4, the opposition held protests near the Georgia district election commissions; 13 protesters were detained.

According to the voting outcomes, the ruling "Georgian Dream-Democratic Movement" Party received the majority of votes – 48.15%, which will allow it to form its own government.
