Two children handed over to relatives in Argun after returning from Syria
The two children, who had been secretly taken to Syria six years ago, were handed over to their relatives in Argun, Khamzat Khirakhmatov, the Children's Ombudsperson in Chechnya, has stated.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 13, a group of 31 children was returned to Russia from Syrian refugee camps by an aircraft of the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD). On November 20, the office of the above Ombudsperson reported that eight children were transferred to relatives in Dagestan, Ingushetia, North Ossetia and Chechnya. On the same day, the office also announced the transfer of seven children to their relatives in Dagestan and Chechnya. Other 16 children were prepared to be sent to their relatives in Dagestan.
The two kids earlier returned from Syrian refugee camps were brought to Chechnya and handed over to their mother, Mr Khirakhmatov has explained. "Six years ago, brother and sister Petimat and Myakhdi Abkarov were taken to Syria by their father secretly from his wife. He died a month ago; and they survived there. Now, the children feel good; we've handed them over to their mother today," the TASS quoted the Ombudsperson as saying on November 24.
Mr Khirakhmatov has added that there are about 60 more children from Chechnya in Syria.
