Djabiev's widow reports law enforcers' attempts to thwart protests

Law enforcers would not allow the participants of the round-the-clock protest action held in central Tskhinvali to buy hot drinks and set up a tent, said Oksana Sotieva, Inal Djabiev's widow.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since December 4, Oksana has been holding protest actions in the central square of Tskhinvali, which, according to her story, will continue until those in charge of her husband's death are duly punished.

Inal Djabiev was detained within the case of an attempt on the life of Igor Naniev, the Interior Minister, and died on August 28. Photos of his body with traces of severe beatings appeared on the Internet. Djabiev's death was followed by Igor Naniev's resignation, followed by resignation of the Premier, Eric Pukhaev, and the entire government.

The endless protest action held by Inal Djabiev's relatives continues. His widow, mother and twin brother, Atsamaz Djabiev, stay in the central square of Tskhinvali around the clock. Besides, every day, from 30 to 100 fellow citizens come to the square to support the relatives.

"Policemen and OMON (riot police) fighters, who are on duty nearby, have forbidden us to take hot drinks from the machines. They also imposed a ban on nearby cafés and shops to sell tea and coffee to us. When we asked why we cannot buy coffee, [law enforcers] answered that 'such the order was'," said Oksana Sotieva.

According to her story, in order not to be outdoors under the drizzling night rain, they brought a tent, where they expected to get warmed one by one. "As soon as we brought up the tent and began unloading its components into the square, riot fighters and policemen immediately ran up and literally tore out all the components from women's hands," said Oksana, Inal's widow.
