Nikol Pashinyan calls reports about his resignation a fake
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan called false the messages reporting that his family members had already left the country. He refused to leave his post ahead of schedule.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that after the truce agreement had been signed with Azerbaijan, the Armenian opposition raised the issue concerning the resignation of Nikol Pashinyan. The protests with the demand of the Nikol Pashinyan's resignation are so far incomparable in scale with the "velvet revolution" of 2018, but they consolidate society, and the discontent with the head of the Armenian government is growing, political analysts note.
Both the President of Armenia and Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II called on Nikol Pashinyan to resign. The latter stated that he was ready to resign if the people demanded that. At the same time, Nikol Pashinyan refused to consider the actions in Yerevan an expression of popular protest.
In his video message posted on Facebook, Nikol Pashinyan explains why he remains in office.
"I pledged to honestly fulfil the duties of the Prime Minister. At present, the main task is to stabilize the situation in Armenia, and we must work on that," said Nikol Pashinyan as quoted by the "Sputnik Armenia".
Today, another protest action with the demand of the Nikol Pashinyan's resignation has been held in Gyumri.
