Authorities report results of negotiations on the road to Khin Shen village in Karabakh
For three days already, more than 60 Khin Shen villagers in Nagorno-Karabakh cannot leave the village because the road is blocked by Azerbaijani militaries, David Davidyan, the head of the neighbouring Mets Shen community, has reported. After negotiations with Azerbaijan, an agreement was reached on opening the road for humanitarian purposes, said Tigran Tsatryan, the acting head of the Shushi District.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 13, Azeri militaries took control over the road connecting the Armenian village of Khin Shen in the Shushi District of Karabakh with the Berdzor-Shushi highway. Residents of Khin Shen are forced to stay in the village, while the population of the neighbouring Mets Shen community has left their homes, local authorities have informed.
Residents of Khin Shen are forced to stay in the village, as they are surrounded; and negotiations yield no results – the road is still blocked, Mr Davidyan has stated.
According to his story, up to 190 people lived in the village of Khin Shen before the hostilities. Now, there are more than 60 civilians there, more than half are women and children.
"Local residents can't leave the village; they have problems with the supply of foodstuffs and communication," David Davidyan has added.
In his turn, Mr Tsatryan has assured that there is no shortage of foodstuffs in the Khin Shen village.
Kamo, a Khin Shen villager, who is temporarily residing in Stepanakert, believes that the villagers should organize a self-defence squad. "But we hope that the Russian peacemakers will solve this problem," he said.
