Compatriots of soldiers missed in action block motorway in Armenia

Dozens of soldiers from the Shirak District of Armenia were captured in the Hadrut District of Nagorno-Karabakh, protesters claim with reference to some videos posted on the Internet. According to a source from the Defence Army, a group of Armenian soldiers was cordoned off, and only a few dozen of them managed to break through.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 15, the Karabakh Defence Army lost contact with the military personnel of several combat posts in the area of the villages of Khtsaberd and Khin Takher (the Azerbaijani names are Chailakkala and In Takhlar, respectively, – note of the "Caucasian Knot").

On Wednesday, residents of the Shirak District of Armenia blocked the Gyumri-Yerevan motorway near the village of Landjik. According to the protesters, mainly residents of the Shirak District of Armenia, including from the villages of Khorom, Landjik, and Azatan, were captured. "150 people were cordoned off for about four days, they were forgotten. And now they have been captured," said Karapet Pogosyan, a resident of Shirak, as quoted by the "Sputnik Armenia".

On December 5, Azerbaijan and Armenia agreed on the exchange of prisoners of war on the principle of "all for all". On December 15, 44 people returned to Armenia. Some of the Armenian prisoners of war are still being kept in Azerbaijan, the authorities of Nagorno-Karabakh report.
